These simple, wholesome flatbreads are made with wholemeal flour and yogurt, offering a soft texture and subtle tang. A light drizzle of honey adds a delightful sweet-savory contrast.

Servings: 6 flatbreads
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 12 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups wholemeal flour
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup runny plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon, plus more for cooking groundnut oil or other vegetable oil
  • for drizzling runny honey

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the wholemeal flour, sea salt flakes, and baking soda.
  2. Add the yogurt and 1 tablespoon of oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a shaggy dough forms, then turn out onto a lightly floured surface.
  3. Knead the dough for 2-3 minutes until it comes together smoothly. Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces.
  4. Roll each piece into a thin, approximately 6-inch round flatbread.
  5. Heat a dry non-stick pan or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each flatbread for 1-2 minutes per side, or until puffed and golden brown spots appear.
  6. Serve warm, drizzled with runny honey.
