Crispy Honey-Salt Metricus Croutons​

Transform slices of 'big loaf metricus' into crunchy, addictive croutons. A perfect blend of sweet and savory, these are ideal for adding texture to soups, salads, or as a healthy snack.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups, cubed big loaf metricus
  • 3 tablespoons groundnut oil or other vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons runny honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon, or to taste sea salt flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the groundnut oil and runny honey until well combined.
  3. Add the cubed 'big loaf metricus' to the bowl. Toss gently to coat all the bread cubes evenly.
  4. Spread the coated bread cubes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Sprinkle evenly with sea salt flakes.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the croutons are golden brown and crispy. Let cool completely before serving or storing.
